Day 1

Arrival in Irkutsk. Meeting at station or at the airport and a transfer in hotel “Victoria ***”.The new, modern building of hotel Victoria is located in the historical city center. Comfortable and cozy numbers with all conveniences, the hospitable personnel will provide you with a pleasant rest. You can be housed in home stay, located in the city center, if you wish.
Sightseeing tour around the city (3 hours) during the course of which you will be familiarized yourself with the main sights of Irkutsk: you will visit the main streets of Irkutsk (Lenin street and Karl Marx street), examine buildings of old churches (Spassky church (the Savior church), Krestovozdvizhenskaya church (Holy Cross Church), the Epiphany Cathedral), visit Znamensky Monastery (the Monastery of the Sign) in which territory there are tombs of Decembrists, and also a well-known merchant and traveler Grigory Shelikhov.

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, transfer to the village Arshan (210 km from Irkutsk). Arshan is famous for its mineral springs; it is one of the most popular places for treatment and rest in Buryatia. The resort is situated at altitude 893 m above sea level, in a picturesque place, in mixed forest, where the air is filled with mountain freshness and aroma of pine needles. Arrive at Arshan. Self catering in a private hotel “The Castle of the Mountain King” (“Zamok Gornogo Korolya”), conveniences in the room, or in a private house “Maria’s Grove” (“Mariyna Roscha”), conveniences in the room.

Day 3

Breakfast. Having rest in Arshan settlement. In the current datsan you will not only be told about the Buddhist religion, but also be shown how to ask the spirits for the desires performance. Passing the valley of the Kyngarga River you go up the mountain trail to waterfalls cascade, where water falls from10 meters height.

Day 4

Breakfast. Transfer to Slyudyanka (110 km from Arshan). Landing in the tourist train (a rail bus in the winter) and departures on an excursion over the Round Baikal Railway. The Circumbaikal Railway is a unique monument of engineering architecture. This is a unique place not only at the lake, but perhaps in the world.
This day you will get acquainted with the monuments of the Round Baikal railway. You will see a great number of bridges, arches, galleries and tunnels, and of course, enjoy the natural scenery of the lake. In the evening arrival in Port Baikal, departure by ferry to Listvyanka, arrival, transfer to the hotel. Accommodation in hotel “Mayak” or private cottage “At Nicolay”.
Hotel “Mayak” was opened in the summer 2006 and is situated on the shore of Baikal, in the center of Listvyanka settlement. The private cottage is in 900 meters from the shore, there are a shower and a toilet in each number, and also there are a bath-house and a lunch room.

Day 5

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast – an excursion to the museum of Baikal where you will be told about flora and fauna of Lake Baikal and you can admire the seals (the Nerpas) swimming in the aquarium of the museum.
Further there will be the tasty dinner at local restaurants “The Last Century” (fish menu) offered. After lunch, you will walk through Krestovka village; visit the church of St. Nicholas. The excursion will be completed by the rise on cableway to peak Chersky, overlooking the magnificent view of the southern part of Lake Baikal and the source of the Angara River.

Day 6

Breakfast.The day off. For some extra pay you can do skiing or ride the tube at hotel “Pribaikalskaya”, ride snowmobiles, dog sledding, and cross-country skis in the center of active rest at hotel «Baikal Towers» or can make independent walk along Listvyanka settlement and enjoy the beauty of Lake Baikal.

Day 7

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport or the railway station of Irkutsk (70 km). Seeing off.

How can I book this tour?

Please, send us the desired travel dates, number of persons, your passport and flight details. June – September (summer) and January – March (winter) is a high season, so you should take care of your vacation in advance. What's the difference between an electric train and a retro train?

Difference between the trains is that the retro train has a real steam locomotive at the head of the train. This fact makes the train more authentic. The carriages of both trains are almost the same, except that the electric train has two classes of carriage.

What kind of services affect the cost of the program?

The price depends on the hotel you choose. We can offer you homestay, guesthouse, hostel, hotel *** or hotel ****. What should we take for a winter trip?

Participants of the tour must have adequate warm clothes for winter expeditions and additional equipment: a sleeping bag, a down jacket, insulated coveralls, a fleece jacket, a warm hat, 2 pairs of warm socks and gloves, winter boots, sunglasses, insect repellent, sunscreen, a personal flashlight, personal first aid kit, a large towel for bathing in the springs.

Is tick vaccination necessary?

It is strongly recommended to have vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis. Ticks are active from early May to mid-July. Although we avoid visiting places of greatest tick-borne activity, insurance of encephalitis is included in the cost of our active tours.
