Day 1

Arrival in Irkutsk; meeting the group; boarding onto the minibus; going to Kultuk (100 km), then to Slyudyanka (106 km from Irkutsk); a stop at the viewing platform – here you can see a picturesque view on Kultuk Bay and the branches of Khamar-Daban; arrival in Slyudyanka, accomodation in a private mini-hotel (toilet at the floor); preparing to trekking; dinner.

Day 2

Breakfast; going up the Slyudyanka River to the tops of the range; the path constantly weaves from the one bank to another, then it runs by the marble quarry, gradually gaining more and more height; pure waters of the rivers, cliffs, rampant greenery are the real Khamar-Daban; lunch in the way by having a snack; stop for overnight on Gorelaya meadow or Meteorological station (depending on how fast the participants can walk), hot dinner on the campfire, overnight in tents.

Day 3

Breakfast in the camp; walking up over the rests of Old Komarinskaya road by the serpentine to Alpine meadows, from where you can watch awesome views on the ranges of Khamar-Daban and the East Sayan; continuation of moving to Chersky peak by a good path; climbing to the peak (2090 m); if the weather is good you will see Baikal and Lake Heart at the foot of the mountain, which was called so due to its shape; ascension to the camp (if you wish we can visit the waterfalls of the Podkomarnaya River); dinner in the camp.

Day 4

Breakfast in the camp; going to passage “Devil’s Gate”; according to the stories of local hunters, UFO was seen here; lunch on the way; return to the camp; dinner.

Day 5

Late breakfast in the camp; return to Slyudyanka by the path; lunch by having a snack; transfer to Irkutsk; arrival, then accommodation at the hotel.

Day 6

Breakfast; the whole day excursion over Listvyanka (70 km from Irkutsk); on the way – visiting architectural-ethnographic museum “Taltsy”, in which the exposition of culture and everyday life of peoples of East Siberia is presented: Evenki summer and autumn camp, Cascade of three water mills, Ilimskaya Kazanskaya Church (chapel), Trinity Church and others; arrival in Listvyanka, going to the viewing point at Shaman Stone, where the guide will tell you a wonderful legend about Baikal and the Angara River; excursion to the Museum of Baikal, meeting inhabitants of flora and fauna of the lake, as well as an interactive diving to the bottom of the lake or visiting arboretum are possible; rising by the cableways to Chersky Mountain overlooking a gorgeous view on the mouth of the Angara and the south part of the lake; a walk through Krestovka village with visiting wooden St. Nicholas Church; visiting fish market and souvenir market; return to Irkutsk.

Breakfast, transfer to the airport or to the train station, Seeing off.

How can I book this tour?

Please, send us the desired travel dates, number of persons, your passport and flight details. We sign a contract with you, and on the basis of the contract we will send you the invoice for the prepayment. You can pay by credit card (VISA or MASTER CARD) and in cash. When is it necessary to book a tour?

The best time to book a tour is 1-2 months in advance. Please note that almost all the tours require the Early Booking. The earlier you book the tour and pay for it, the better price you will have. For individual programs the booking time is 2-3 months before the start of the tour. June – September (summer) and January – March (winter) is a high season, so you should take care of your vacation in advance. In this case, you will get the best hotels, the best guides and the best programs. However, if you decide to go to Lake Baikal on the eve of your planned vacation, we will still be glad to offer the best program and services due to our vast experience in this field.

Who will meet us in Irkutsk?

Before you arrive in Irkutsk we will already have all your travel details. So you will be met by a company representative (tourist guide) with the sign “BaikalNova” or your “NAME” at the airport (or at the train station).

What's the difference between an electric train and a retro train?

Difference between the trains is that the retro train has a real steam locomotive at the head of the train. This fact makes the train more authentic. The carriages of both trains are almost the same, except that the electric train has two classes of carriage.

What kind of services affect the cost of the program?

The price depends on the hotel you choose. We can offer you homestay, guesthouse, hostel, hotel *** or hotel ****. The price depends on the kind of transfer you prefer (individual or group), accompaniment of the guide throughout the whole program of the tour. We can offer you excursions with a local guide for each part of the Baikal.

What should we take for a winter trip?

Participants of the tour must have adequate warm clothes for winter expeditions and additional equipment: a sleeping bag, a down jacket, insulated coveralls, a fleece jacket, a warm hat, 2 pairs of warm socks and gloves, winter boots, sunglasses, insect repellent, sunscreen, a personal flashlight, personal first aid kit, a large towel for bathing in the springs.

Is tick vaccination necessary?

It is strongly recommended to have vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis. Ticks are active from early May to mid-July. Although we avoid visiting places of greatest tick-borne activity, insurance of encephalitis is included in the cost of our active tours.
