This tour will help you see Lake Baikal and Tunkinskaya valley. You will have opportunity to visit interesting museums, historical monuments to be a welcome guest on the mystical Olkhon island. To see one of the popular places in Arshan is the waterfall of the Kyngyrga river. It’s the first of twelve waterfalls of the drum-river. The pictures hiking trail to the waterfall surprises with the ornamental interweaving of stones and roots, beautiful rocks.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Irkutsk. Meet with the guide. Transfer to Olkhon Island. Stop for lunch. Crossing the Lake by the ferry. Transfer by UASes to the hotel. Arrival to Olkhon island. Accommodation at the hotel. Rest. Excursion to Burkhan Cape. Famous and unique – Shamanka rock or Burhan Cape. Named so in antiquity for its sacred meaning, the cape has become the most important shrine of the shamanistic world. Possible banya (for additional price). Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast. All day on Olkhon Island. After breakfast excursion by 4X4 to Khoboy Cape, the northernmost point of Olkhon.
The trip will allow you to discover the beauty of the Maloye More (Small Sea) and its islets. Walk to the cape. Picnic in the open air. Visit to Uzury, a small hamlet in the east of the island. The picturesque way passes through steppes, sandy beaches, taiga, abandoned villages. Return to Khuzhir. Dinner. Possible banya in the evening. Resort overnight in Khuzhir.

Day 3

Breakfast. All day on Olkhon Island. After breakfast excursion by boat to island Ogoy. Excursion along the Southern Part of Olkhon island and the islets of the Small Sea (6 – 7 hours). Then your route will run along picturesque islets, caves to Ogoy island – a sacred place for Buddhists. They put Stupa of enlightenment, which gives peace and fulfills the wishes. Picnic in the open air. The picturesque way passes through steppes, sandy beaches, taiga, abandoned villages. After excursion transfer to Irkutsk. In the evening arrival in Irkutsk. Dinner. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 4

Breakfast. Meeting with the guide. Transfer to Listvyanka. On the way excursion to Taltsy museum. Visit to the museum of Baikal lake with the aquarium of Nerpa, the Baikal Seal. Visit by cable car to Chersky Rock where the beautiful view opens at the south part of lake Baikal and source of the Angara river. The guide will tell you the beautiful legend about Lake Baikal and his daughter, the Angara river. Walking tour at the village Krestovka with visit to the Saint Nicolas church. Lunch at a local restaurant, tasting dishes of lake Baikal fish. Visit to the local market, selling smoked fish and souvenirs. Accommodation at the hotel. Dinner.

Day 5

Breakfast. Meeting with the guide. Transfer to Arshan. Arrival. Lunch in a Buryat cafe serving the traditional cuisine: posy, chebureki, Buryat tea etc. Walk through the mountain gorge of the river Kengarga to the waterfall. Visiting sources with drinking mineral water. Mongolian market (purchase of souvenirs, medicinal herbs).
Accommodation at the hotel. Dinner.

Day 6

Breakfast. Transfer with the guide to the Zemchug village. Bathing in the thermal spring. Lunch. Transfer to Irkutsk Arrival in Irkutsk in the evening. City tour, 3 hours. Dinner. Hotel accommodation.

Day 7

Breakfast. Meet with the guide. City tour, 5 hours with guide with visiting the Decembrists’ museum, Kirov Square, enter to Church , Karl Marks Street, Lenin Street. Lunch at the restaurant. Return to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 8

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport or to the train station. Seeing off.

When is it necessary to book a tour?

The best time to book a tour is 1-2 months in advance. Please note that almost all the tours require the Early Booking. The earlier you book the tour and pay for it, the better price you will have. For individual programs the booking time is 2-3 months before the start of the tour. June – September (summer) and January – March (winter) is a high season, so you should take care of your vacation in advance. In this case, you will get the best hotels, the best guides and the best programs. What's the difference between an electric train and a retro train?

Difference between the trains is that the retro train has a real steam locomotive at the head of the train. This fact makes the train more authentic. The carriages of both trains are almost the same, except that the electric train has two classes of carriage.

What should we take for a winter trip?

Participants of the tour must have adequate warm clothes for winter expeditions and additional equipment: a sleeping bag, a down jacket, insulated coveralls, a fleece jacket, a warm hat, 2 pairs of warm socks and gloves, winter boots, sunglasses, insect repellent, sunscreen, a personal flashlight, personal first aid kit, a large towel for bathing in the springs.

Is tick vaccination necessary?

It is strongly recommended to have vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis. Ticks are active from early May to mid-July. Although we avoid visiting places of greatest tick-borne activity, insurance of encephalitis is included in the cost of our active tours.
